The Log was honored recently as a Gold Medalist by the Columbia Scholastic Press Association following a critique of issues from the 2016–17 school year. The association acknowledged Loomis' student newspaper for its broad coverage of topics relevant to the entire school community and noted that The Log's student leadership remains committed to operating the newspaper as forum for students' voices. The association also commended student contributors for their writing talent and for their "ability to tackle sensitive issues with maturity."
"Last year's Log editors were determined to make [it] more relevant, more modern, and more visually appealing," commented Jessica Hsieh '08, English teacher and faculty advisor to the newspaper. "I'm so glad that their long hours of work paid off, and I'm thrilled for The Log to get feedback and recognition from the CSPA."
Jessica would like to acknowledge The Log student leaders from the 2016-17 school year, all of whom are members of the Loomis Chaffee Class of 2017. They include Gloria Yi and Jamie Lee, both editors-in-Chief, Anh Nguyen, director of design, and Lily Liu.
