Centennial Celebration Wows!

Generations of alumni, faculty, staff, and friends joined current parents and students on Saturday, September 20, to celebrate Loomis Chaffee’s Centennial. Family and community — the heart of Loomis Chaffee — emerged as the theme of the day, and a good time was had by all. Read more.

 



Alumni Profile: Joe Hill '93 Paints the Quad in 3-D

With assistance from students, Joe Hill ’93, a renowned 3-D pavement artist, painted a graphical optical illusion on the floor of the Sue and Eugene Mercy Jr. Gallery that leaves the distinct impression that viewers are flying over Grubbs Quadrangle on the back of a pelican. Read more.

Football Shuts Out Andover to Start Season

In front of hundreds of Loomis Chaffee Centennial celebrants on Saturday, September 20, the football team opened its 2014 season with a 13-0 win over defending Class A New England Champion Phillips Andover Academy.

Centennial Year Alumni Events
The celebration of Loomis Chaffee’s 100th year did not end on September 20! In fact, it’s just the beginning! Alumni will find events and activities both near and far that celebrate the talents of alumni, that provide learning opportunities, and that offer a chance to gather with fellow Pelicans. In the next month, we invite you to an array of music and art events, book clubs, regattas, receptions, and more. Details for more events can be found on the Alumni Events page. Check back frequently for updates and additions to the calendar.

 
Guest Musician Series Features Alumni
The 2014-15 Guest Musician Series kicks off with Christopher Durrenberger ’84 on piano on September 30 and mezzo soprano Danielle Coombe ’10 on October 9.  Learn more on the Alumni Events calendar.


Chaffee Book Club
The Chaffee Book Club will meet Wednesday, October 8, to discuss the historical novel Regeneration by Pat Barker. The evening will begin with dinner at 6 p.m., followed by a discussion at 7:30 p.m led by Head of School Sheila Culbert. RSVP by contacting Donna Burrall at 860.687.6815.


Loomis Chaffee will be at the Head of the Charles
Planning to attend the 2014 Head of the Charles Regatta on Saturday-Sunday, October 18-19? Look for the Loomis Chaffee tent in Reunion Village! Gather with fellow alumni and watch the races together. It’s a classic New England fall event made better with Loomis Chaffee friends.  Learn more.
