Get Baked Diaper Drive through September 22 Loomis Math Circle on Origami September 24 Ever wonder how a square sheet of paper can become a piece of art? The LC Math Team is hosting an event for people interested in math on Sunday, September 24, 2 -3 p.m. focusing on origami and the math behind the art and science. Participants will get hands on experience trying to understand some of the amazing things that can be done with a simple sheet of paper. There is no minimum math requirement for those who are interested. You can sign up for the event and find more information on our sign-up form. NEW Yearbook Application due September 24 Application is due by Sunday, Sept 24, 11:59 p.m. Hartt Symphony Band and Wind Ensemble September 25 The University of Hartford Hartt School's Symphony Band and Wind Ensemble will perform in Hubbard on Monday, September 25, at 7:30 p.m. These college-level ensembles will perform a diverse and exciting one-hour program and all are invited! This is a great concert credit opportunity for all music students and will be a program to be enjoyed by all. Don't miss it! Holocaust Survivor on Campus Tuesday, September 26 Please join the Norton Center for the Common Good and Ms. Markman, Director of Student Religious Life, in welcoming Heidi Fishman, '80 and her mother, Tutti, for a special lecture on her experience surviving the Holocaust on Tuesday, September 26 during Community Time in Hubbard Performance Hall. All 9th graders are required to attend as part of the Freshman Seminar curriculum, but all in the community are strongly encouraged not to miss this rare opportunity to meet a Holocaust survivor.

NEW Windsor's Annual Chili Challenge Saturday, September 30 The 22nd annual Windsor Chili Challenge will take place on the Town Green on Saturday, September 30 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. See flyer for more information. NEW SCUBA Class Loomis Chaffee will be offering an open water scuba class this winter here Hedges Pool (over four Sunday mornings in January and February). During the online class, you will learn all the knowledge needed to pass the final exam and in the pool, you will learn the water skills needed to be eligible to take the open water certification test in May in RI. Wall Street Journal and Newspaper Access Through The Wall Street Journal's High School Donation Program, The Katharine Brush Library is receiving 15 print copies of the WSJ for the school year. You can pick up copies at the library's circulation desk each morning while supplies last. Still time to join Community Service The Gaining Ground program is looking for more people!! If you like to work with kids and be outdoors, then this is the program for you! Volunteer to work after school on Mondays and/or Fridays with local elementary school students and learn while you teach them about sustainable agriculture, where their food really comes from and maybe even bugs!! It is a great opportunity to get out of the classroom, get dirty and have some educational fun in the sun. The WISH school program is looking for more tutors to work with second grade students in their classroom. You will help them with their homework and engage them in fun educational games and activities. Community Service travels to the WISH School every Thursday from 3:45-5:15 pm.
