NEW Longman Leadership Institute Capstone Project Survey

This year, the girls in Longman dorm, along with four day students, are involved in a leadership program that aims to promote women's leadership across campus.  As part of this program, the girls of Longman are expected to complete three capstone projects by the end of the year, one of which is a book that will include brief interviews with female role models within our Loomis Chaffee community.  Of course, we can't possibly search every corner of the school, so that's why we're asking you! If there are any special females (whether it be student, teacher, or staff) in your life who represent strength and empowerment to you, then please take the time to fill out this survey.

Please read the instructions and we hope you'll enjoy the final product. -Anya, Maral, Calabria, Natalie, & Sadie

Ask a Person of Color Panel on January 19

This is an opportunity to ask people of color any questions you've ever had, but felt uncomfortable asking. These questions do not have to stay specific to African Americans; Latinos Americans, Asian Americans, and Native Americans are examples of other people of color as well. Please keep the questions respectful, but don't hold back either. Sometimes it's difficult to ask these questions in person, so PRISM is presenting this panel on Friday, January 19 from 9:15-9:45 in the SNIF as a way for everyone to get to understand each other better. For example: Why is another race saying the N-word besides African Americans considered wrong?

CLASS RINGS on Thursday, January 18

Health Tips from the Health Center

We have entered into cold and flu season, here are a few pointers to help keep our community as healthy as possible:

  • Hand washing!  Wash your hands with soap and warm water frequently.  If you are unable to wash, hand sanitizer is an acceptable replacement until you can get to a sink.
  • Cough and sneeze into a tissue or your elbow.
  • Do not share food or drinks.
  • Stay as hydrated and rested as possible and be sure to eat throughout the day.  Missing meals or getting too little sleep can make a headache or nausea feel worse.  Our bodies are more prone to illness when we are 'worn down'.
  • Come to the Health Center when you feel sick.  The main symptoms of the flu are fever, bodyaches and headache.  The sooner treatment is started, the better.  Other illnesses that are common this time of year include the stomach bug, common cold, and strep throat. The Health Center can help to determine the need for testing and/or treatment.

Stay healthy LC!
