Mentoring is a great way for alumni to connect with each other and give back to their school community, and the Alumni Development Office will launch a new mentorship program next month. The Loomis Chaffee Career Network will be an online tool, accessible from the school website, that provides networking and mentoring opportunities for the exclusive use of Loomis alumni.

The Loomis Chaffee Career Network, powered by Firsthand, will allow Pelicans to connect within geographical regions and within specific fields of interest. Alumni with experience in particular fields can elect to serve as “advisors,” and fellow alumni can sign up as “advisees” seeking professional advice.

With the ability to be specifically tailored to the needs and desired time commitment of both advisors and advisees, the platform is a valuable tool, says Alexandra Muchara-Mensah, assistant director of alumni and parent relations. The program also will help the Office of Alumni & Parent Relations to gain a broader picture and better understanding of the needs of Loomis alumni.

“The Loomis Chaffee Career Network is another way for us to include and stay connected with alumni who are not able to attend reunions, alumni receptions, and other events,” Alexandra notes.

Advisors can select the ways they are willing to assist, including through resume critiques, career conversations, and mock interviews with advisees. They can set the amount of time they are able to commit and the calendar days when they are available to connect with alumni advice-seekers.

Advisees, too, are able to tailor their experience, searching based on location, professional fields, educational institutions, and other affinities.

Loomis alumni can rest assured that all personal information, such as email addresses and phone numbers, remains private in the Loomis Chaffee Career Network.
