Sheila Culbert Thanks Alumni for Record-Breaking Philanthropy

Dear Alumni,

Tuesday, February 28, this year's Philanthropy Day, was extraordinary for Loomis Chaffee.

Alumni, parents, faculty, staff, students, and friends from all over the country and the world came together in support of this year's Philanthropy Day Challenge of recording 1,000 gifts of any size in one day in support of the Annual Fund.

We didn't just surpass our goal of 1,000 gifts, we shattered the record of 1,227 set last year. With more than 1,300 gifts at last count, this year's Philanthropy Day was the single-largest giving day in Loomis Chaffee's history. You may connect to the school website in the coming days for the final tally.

Because of this incredible outpouring of support for the Annual Fund, Loomis Chaffee will receive $250,000 for the endowment for financial aid, thanks to a generous challenge gift committed by an anonymous donor if we succeeded in achieving our 1,000-gift goal. The endowed $250,000 will support talented and deserving students through financial aid in achieving their education goals for many years to come.

We are deeply grateful to everyone in the extended Loomis Chaffee community who participated by giving, volunteering, and cheering us on during this historic effort. We also offer our heartfelt thanks to the anonymous donor who posed the $250,000 Philanthropy Day Challenge.

On behalf of the students, faculty, and staff, all of whom will benefit from your support, I thank you again for making Philanthropy Day 2017 a huge success.

Sincerely,

Sheila Culbert
