Teachers are among the most important people in the lives of our students. We appreciate and value the work you do to prepare young people for our school as well as for your efforts in supporting and guiding your students to pursue their passions. Your recommendations and evaluation of students considering our school is incredibly helpful in understanding a student’s potential, their commitment to learning as well as their desire to be part of a rigorous learning community. While we expect recommendations on behalf of all candidates for admission, we welcome your calls and emails to provide additional information. If you have questions regarding our admission process or would like to speak with someone regarding a student whom you may be referring, please do contact our office at 860.687.6400.
Our admission process has an online recommendation form that all of your students should be aware of. You will receive an email from your student requesting a teacher recommendation. You can submit your teacher recommendation to a secure website only accessible by Loomis Chaffee Admission professionals. If you are uncomfortable about submitting your recommendation online or you have technical problems doing so, please feel free to print the teacher recommendation forms

We welcome communication from school placement directors regarding candidates applying to our school. Such communication can be critical to fully understanding a student’s background and experience as well as their desire to attend our school. In a time when admission to independent secondary school is becoming increasingly selective, the partnership between our school and placement directors is ever more important. As a placement director, we hope that you will familiarize yourself with our school; curriculum and co-curricular opportunities; visit our campus, and establish a relationship with those of us in the Office of Admission.
