After a week of preseason in Florida and a return to the snow-covered Northeast one week ago, the boys varsity lacrosse team got off to a good start, winning its opening contest against Millbrook School on Saturday by a score of 17-3.

The school community celebrated the winter's varsity teams on Wednesday evening at the Varsity Dessert in the Loomis Dining Hall, where athletes, coaches, and parents gathered to honor the teamwork, talent, and tenacity that produced great results and great experiences throughout the winter season.

March is often the time for Loomis students to explore new opportunities outside of the classroom, and this spring is no exception for several Pelican spring sports teams as they head south for spring training.

The No. 3-ranked Loomis girls basketball team hosted No. 6 Worcester Academy on Wednesday in the quarterfinals of the New England Class A Basketball Tournament and came away with a convincing 71-44 win. The team advances to the semifinals on Saturday.

Loomis sophomore Patrick Craig won the 2015 New England Prep School Division I diving championship on Wednesday at Suffield Academy.

The Boston sports community is all abuzz today about Aaron Civale '13, a sophomore at Northeastern University who struck out four Red Sox players, including David "Big Papi" Ortiz, in a spring training game with the Northeastern Huskies on Tuesday.

The Loomis Chaffee boys squash team hosted the New England Class B Championships last weekend. Fifteen schools from all over New England descended on the campus for the three-day event, and when the last match was over Sunday afternoon, Loomis was declared co-champion along with Rye Country Day.

Two players on the boys varsity hockey team have been selected to the Western New England All-Star team. The recognition comes on the heels of the team’s winning its first outright Founders League championship since the 1994–1995 season and qualifying for the first time for the Stuart/Corkery New England Prep Hockey Open Division Tournament.

Loomis Chaffee earned three Founders League titles on the last day of the regular season Saturday. Boys swimming won the league championship meet, and boys ice hockey and girls basketball clinched league titles based on their regular-season records.

As the winter seasons come to a close, a number of Loomis Chaffee teams are getting set for their biggest week of the season, New England Tournament time!
