Several Loomis teams host or head to holiday tournaments this week. Here is your guide to what is happening on and off the Island.

The girls basketball team used a disappointing one-point loss to Pomfret on Friday evening to turn it all around on Saturday when the Pelicans played Andover at home to a commanding 55-31 win.

As the Pelicans prepare for the holiday break, there appears to be no sign of waning excellence on the court, course, ice, mat, or pool. Congratulations to this week's Pelicans of the Week.

After playing to a 61-57 win over Deerfield in the first home game of the season on Wednesday, the Loomis boys varsity basketball team was back in action with a big Founders League game at Avon Old Farms on Saturday, and the Pelicans notched their second "W" 83-70.

The Equestrian Team competed at Mystic Valley Hunt Club among nine other teams on Saturday. Placing third, the Loomis team broke its high score record with 29 points overall and finished just a few points behind the first- and second-place teams. In addition to team success, individual riders placed exceptionally well.

The winter season is in full swing, and coaches praise the first Pelicans of the Week for their dedication to team and sport. Congratulations to one and all.

The Loomis Equestrian team placed second at the Windcrest Farm Interscholastic Equestrian Association Horse Show on Saturday, earning the title of Reserve Champion team.
