As the Loomis Chaffee water polo team headed into its final week of 2014 play, the Pelicans faced off against long-time Founders League rival Choate in a rematch of a closely contested early season contest. When the waves on the pool settled, the Pelicans emerged from the water with an 18-13 margin of victory.

The varsity field hockey team hosted a Field Hockey Friendzie on Pratt Field on Sunday, October 26. Members of the varsity and JV field hockey teams along with other LC students, parents, faculty, and fans came out to play field hockey and raise money and awareness for cancer research.

Congratulations to this week's Pelicans of the Week.

The girls soccer team has played some of its best games of the season in the last week as the team beat Greenwich Academy in a home game last week, won at Wilbraham & Monson on Saturday, and was victorious at Kingswood-Oxford on Monday. With three solid victories in the tank, the team looks to keep the momentum moving into Wednesday's match against Northfield Mount Hermon.

On Saturday, November 1, the boys soccer team will host its annual Nothing But Nets Game at 2:30 p.m. as the Pelicans face off against the Rhinos of Taft in the Meadows.

The girls volleyball team had its first-ever night game on Saturday in Olcott using the date to pay its respects to breast cancer awareness in the team's annual Dig for Pink Game. The bleachers were pulled out, fans came in droves, and baked goods were sold with donations going to the Susan G. Komen Foundation as Loomis downed Taft 3-0.

The boys and girls cross country teams both raced to first-place team finishes at the Shaler Invitational held at Williston-Northampton on Saturday under sunny skies and beautiful fall foliage.

Congratulations to this week's Pelicans of the Week.

On Sunday, October 19, a crew team from Riverfront Recapture in Hartford rowed in the 50th Head of the Charles Regatta in Cambridge, Mass. Loomis senior Will Parsons rowed in the Men's Fours with rowers from West Hartford's Hall High School, Conard High School, and Northwest Catholic High School.

The Loomis Chaffee boys varsity water polo team avenged an early-season loss to Hotchkiss on Wednesday with a 14-7 win over the Bearcats in Lakeville.
