Travel/Event Alert for LC Community on Saturday, May 18
The Town of Windsor will be holding its annual Shad Derby Festival on Saturday, May 18, from 8 a.m. – 6 p.m. The Windsor Police Department has provided the following detour route for Windsor center tomorrow:
Northbound Detour Route - North on Rt. 159/ Broad Street, right onto Island Road. Note: If you need to get around the center of town heading northbound follow Rt. 159/Broad Street, left on Sycamore, right onto Preston Street, left onto Filly, right on Welch, right or left on Bloomfield Ave: Left to I-91, right to the center of town/north end of Broad Street.
Southbound Detour Route- From Bloomfield Ave, Poquonock Ave or Palisado Ave: To Loomis—Union Street to Mechanic Street, left onto Batchelder Road.
Please note the festival’s road race runs through campus from Mechanic Street onto Batchelder Road and around the loop back to Mechanic Street. The race starts at 10:00 a.m. and should end by 11:00 a.m. The Shad Derby Parade will begin at 11:30 a.m., leaving from Windsor High School, marching down Capen Street onto Broad Street and ending at Broad and Union Streets.

From Bradley International Airport:
From Bradley International Airport, follow exit signs to I-91 south. Take exit 36 off I-91 south. Take a left onto Park Avenue (Route 178 east). Proceed to the end of 178 and take a left onto Route 159 north (Windsor Avenue). At the traffic light, make a right onto Batchelder Road and follow signs.
From New York City and points south (approximately 2.5 hours from New York City to Loomis Chaffee) :
Take exit 36 off I-91 north. Take a right onto Park Avenue (Route 178 east). Proceed to the end of 178 and take a left onto Route 159 north (Windsor Avenue). At the traffic light, make a right onto Batchelder Road and follow sign.
From Providence (approximately 1.5 hours to Loomis Chaffee):
Take Route 6 to Route 295 north to Route 6 west to Route 395 south to Route 2 west. Then take I-91 north to exit 36. Take a right onto Park Avenue (Route 178 east). Proceed to the end of 178 and take a left onto Route 159 north (Windsor Avenue). At the traffic light, make a right onto Batchelder Road and follow signs to the Office of Admission.

From Springfield and points north:
Take exit 36 off I-91 south. Take a left onto Park Avenue (Route 178 east). Proceed to the end of 178 and take a left onto Route 159 north (Windsor Avenue). At the traffic light, make a right onto Batchelder Road and follow signs.

From Boston and points east:
From I-84 west: Take exit 61, I-291 west. Follow I-291 to I-91 north. Take exit 36 off I-91. Take a right onto Park Avenue (Route 178 east). Proceed to the end of 178 and take a left onto Route 159 north (Windsor Avenue). At the traffic light, make a right onto Batchelder Road and follow signs. |
