Loomis Chaffee Organizations
The Loomis Chaffee School promotes activities, diversity, service, and learning outside of the classroom by bringing together students with similar interests. Clubs and organizations afford students the opportunity to enhance the quality of student life by fostering social interaction and leadership development.

- Christian Fellowship
The Christian Fellowship offers a support network for Christians of all
denominations on campus and provides community outreach. The fellowship
provides an accepting environment open to discussions about faith. Read more
- Community Service Club
The Community Service Club is a daytime club activity which meets to
organize special community service events which can be done on campus
such as food and clothing drives, fundraisers for designated charities
or one day events including Habitat for Humanity, Special Olympics and
organizing a dinner for a homeless shelter. The events and projects
sponsored by the Service Club are decided upon by the membership with
guidance from the faculty adviser. Items of interest are discussed at
regularly scheduled meetings. This club is ideal for students who have
a genuine interest in performing community service after school but are
unable to do so because of their academic and athletic schedule. All

- Darwin Club
The Darwin Club is one of Loomis Chaffee’s oldest running clubs, it
dates back to the early 1920’s. Like Darwin's Theory of evolution the
clubs activities have evolved over the years but one theme has remained
the same. This is a community service based organization that does
outdoor projects both on campus and off. Read more
- Debate Society
Our mission is to promote effective public speaking through our
competition in and preparation for the public speaking and debate
tournaments of the Debating Association of New England Independent
Schools (DANEIS), an association of more than 40 schools in New
England, New York and Canada. Each year, the league sanctions and
coordinates 10 to 12 tournaments which are held at member schools. Read more
- FIRST Robotics Team Paragon
To have fun, learn from professional engineers, build a robot, create a
website, program the robot, participate in community outreach, go to
competitions in Hartford, possibly Philadelphia, and perhaps Atlanta.
Our team is made up of students from multiple local high schools who
wish to be put in a very realistic business atmosphere, incorporating
teamwork, budgets, transportation, public relations, and many more
fields. Almost everyone can find a spot on the team that will be right
for them. While we do sometimes work hard, we take great strides toward
our own futures and get to work side by side with mentors from major
companies such as Otis elevators while designing a robot to complete
certain tasks. Read more
- Jewish Student Union (JSU)
The purpose of the JSU is to promote the Jewish faith and the culture
that comes along with it throughout the student and faculty of Loomis
Chaffee, both Jewish and non-Jewish alike. Read more
- Math Team
The Math Team competes in the New England Mathematics League. (six
competitions during the year done during Tuesday 3rd periods.) All ages
are welcome. Team score each meet is the sum of the five top scores. Read more
- PRISM (People Rising in Support of Multiculturalism)
PRISM is a group of students whose purpose is to break down the social
boundaries within the Loomis Chaffee School by creating a familial
environment where its members may interact with people of different
cultures, be in a comfortable space to explore social issues, and
provide the resources and opportunities to better educate themselves

- Spectrum (Gay/Straight Alliance)
Spectrum
brings together students, faculty and staff to educate each other and
the greater Loomis Chaffee community about issues relating to sexual
orientation and homophobia. Through social activities, discussions and
other events, Spectrum will offer opportunities to learn about the
issues surrounding the acceptance of diverse sexual orientations. Read more
- Students Against Destructive Decisions (SADD)
SADD’s
purpose is to increase awareness of the dangers of driving drunk, with
the hope that we will prevent it in our community and to increase the
awareness of destructive decisions by students and to contribute to the
efforts of the national organization. Read more
- The Log
The Log is a school-sponsored, student-run newspaper that is published
three times a term. In addition to the sixteen editors selected each
spring, a significant and ever-changing group of staff writers,
photographers and graphic artists contribute to each issue, working
closely with the editors and faculty adviser to chronicle and explore
the events and times of Loomis Chaffee and the world in which we live

- The Loom
The Loom is the Student Art & Literary magazine that publishes
student work twice a year. No artistic or linguistic talent is needed
for just enjoying art and literature is enough to partake in meetings.
Also, hosts the largest open mic on campus. Read more
