Current Parent Giving

The 2013-14 Loomis Chaffee Parent Annual Fund is chaired is by Lisa and Warren Yeh (Allison ’15). This year the Parent Annual Fund is looking to raise $1,250,000 and garner support from 80 percent of current parents. All parents are invited to make a gift. We are fortunate to have over 60 families volunteering on behalf of this effort, which runs from July 1, 2013 through June 30, 2014.

The Parent Annual Fund is critically important to Loomis Chaffee as all contributions flow directly into the operating budget, immediately impacting every student and the community as a whole. With your support of the Fund, the school is able to provide excellence in every program offered, attract and retain superior faculty, enhance dormitory and student life, and provide financial aid to talented students.

We hope that you will join the other Loomis Chaffee parents who have already offered their support and consider making a gift today. Please recognize that every gift, no matter the size, makes a difference and signals your belief in Loomis Chaffee, its mission and the teachers, coaches and mentors who are integral to it.

What is the Annual Fund?
The Annual Fund is a volunteer-driven campaign to which alumni, parents, and friends make unrestricted gifts that flow directly into the school’s operating budget each year.  Last year’s Annual Fund raised more than $2.3 million dollars, representing 7% of the school’s total operating budget.  The Annual Fund runs from July 1 through June 30 each year.

Why is the Annual Fund necessary?
While tuition to attend Loomis Chaffee is substantial, it covers only 68% of the actual cost of educating each student.  Endowment income and gifts to the Annual Fund make up the difference.  Virtually all independent schools are presented with the requirement to raise revenue through an Annual Fund to cover operating expenses.

Why should I give to the Annual Fund?
Your tax deductible gift will help Loomis Chaffee retain and attract the best faculty; acquire and improve classroom equipment; make new information resources and library acquisitions possible; enhance dormitory and student life; make improvements to facilities; bring guest lecturers to the school; and expand financial aid.

How much should I give?
Gifts from current parents to the Annual Fund range in size from $10 to $100,000.  No gift is too small, and each and every one is essential.  Your gift to the Parent Annual Fund can also be made anonymously.

How do I give?     

  • In the Fall, you will be contacted by a parent volunteer, asking you to make your gift/pledge to the Annual Fund.  You can make your gift at that time, or, at anytime during the year:
    • You can make your gift on-line
    • You can send a check, payable to “Loomis Chaffee,” in the mail to:

           Alumni/Development Office

  • You can make a gift of securities, credit card gift, or a gift by wire transfer, by calling KeriAnne Travis, Director of the Annual Fund, at 860 687 6281.

Does participation matter?
Yes!  Every tax-deductible gift makes a difference to the school.  Participation in the Annual Fund sends a powerful message that you believe in Loomis Chaffee and its educational program and the teachers, coaches and mentors who are integral to it.

What are matching gifts and how do they help?
Matching gifts are often provided by your employer as a benefit to increase the impact of your donation.  A company with a matching gift program will make a gift to Loomis Chaffee when you make your gift, often dollar for dollar.  In order to take advantage of this benefit, you will need to get a matching gift form from your employer’s human resources department and send it in with your donation. My child is receiving financial aid. Is it okay to make a gift? 
Yes, your gift to the Annual Fund will not affect your financial aid package. We encourage all families to support the Annual Fund.

Yes.  Simply include “Loomis Chaffee” as the recipient on the donor form, together with the school’s address:  4 Batchelder Road; Windsor, CT  06095.
