![]() Meditation on PhotographyKatharine White '10 on her passion for photography.As with “Christine,” pictured here, Katharine photographs primarily women in carefully contrived costumes, makeup, hairstyles, and settings. She says the approach has a paradoxical effect. “Initially, it seems I’m hiding who they really are, but it’s incredible how much undiluted self shines through when they get in front of the camera,” Katharine explains. “Everything I do in preparation for the photo acts, I think, as a sort of counter-intuitive excuse for the girls to be themselves.” |

Students in Ceramics 2 this spring built a pit kiln outside of the ceramics studio in the Richmond Art Center, with help from Physical Plant staff and under the direction of Head of the Art Department Jennifer McCandless.
A mixed-media art installation by Insook Hwang opened Tuesday, April 30, in the Sue and Eugene Mercy Jr. Gallery in the Richmond Art Center. The installation consists of drawings and digital works on canvas.
Loomis Chaffee has begun a traveling art exhibition in partnership with Germantown Academy. Funneled through LC art teacher Mark Zunino and Germantown art teacher David Love, the project features student art work from both schools.
A mixed-media art installation of drawings and works on canvas by Insook Hwang will open at the Sue and Eugene Mercy Jr. Gallery on Tuesday, April 30 from 6:45 to 8:45 p.m. The artwork will be on display from April 30 through June 17.
