Varsity Field Hockey - Girls vs. Taft School
Event Type: Regular
Advantage:Away
Date: October 1, 2011
Result:Loss
Score:1-3
Event Recap:

LC travelled to Watertown on Saturday for a Founders League match up with a talented Taft squad.

Loomis lost footing early on by not attacking the 50/50 ball and falling back on their heels. The re-entry of co-captain Chloe Alexander '12 did much to help the LC defense maintain composure in the backfield, but Taft got on the scoreboard late in the half with 6:28 left to play when the ball swept past all LC defensemen and a 1 v. 1 with the LC keeper, co-captain Cally Moran '12 resulted in the Rhinos going up 1-0. LC struck back at the end of the first half when Alli Byrne '13 converted on  a penalty corner.

The Rhinos came back hard in the second and scored two more solid goals. The Pelicans will need to work with greater intensity on putting pressure on the loose balls and creating opportunities for the forward line and taking some of the heat off of GK Cally Moran who had 24 saves in the cage today. LC will host Sacred Heart on Wednesday. Hope to see you there.

Pelican of the week goes to Chloe Alexander '12 for her tenacious play in the LC backfield.

The field hockey team downed both Choate and Deerfield last week to push ahead in New England Prep Field Hockey.

Facing a talented, undefeated Westminster team in Simsbury for an important Founders League matchup on Saturday, the Loomis varsity field hockey team worked diligently despite torrential rain to upset the host team 3-1 and earn the right to ring the Victory Bell.

More than 60 young field hockey players in grades three through eight attended a clinic hosted by the Loomis girls field hockey team on campus Monday.

Loomis hosted a talented team from Taft on an unseasonably warm Saturday afternoon on Pratt Field. Despite the heat, the home team tallied a nail-biting 3-2 defeat of the Rhinos.

Sports Information Director and Head Field Hockey Coach Bobbi Moran presented at the Harrow Sports/National Field Hockey Coaches Association's (NFHCA) Preseason Workshop at RPI on Saturday, August 9. Field hockey Olympians Andrea Wieland and Jill Reeve, head coach of Brown University, also presented.

Loomis Chaffee's Pratt Field played host to the Western New England All-Star Game on Sunday, November 10. LC senior captain Hannah Oganeku and junior captain Sierra Semmel were selected to participate in the event.
