Dartmouth sophomore Sarah Byrne '11 this weekend became the second player in Big Green women's lacrosse history to have consecutive games with at least four goals in the NCAA Women's Lacrosse Tournament. The only other Dartmouth player to accomplish this feat was another LC alumna, Katieanne Christian '01.

Middlebury College freshman girls lacrosse goalie Katie Mandigo '12 helped lead the No. 3 Panthers past No.14 RPI in a NCAA Division III lacrosse regional final.

Five talented alumnae are playing in the Division I and Division III national championship lacrosse tournaments, including two whose teams faced off against each other on Friday.

Varsity Soccer - Girls vs. Berkshire School
Event Type: Regular
Advantage:Away
Date: October 12, 2011
Result:Loss
Score:0-1
Event Recap:
The Loomis Chaffee girls soccer team lost 1-0 to the Berkshire School on a second half goal by junior Murphy Newman. The Pelicans dominated the game and outshot the Bears 26-6, but could not find the back of the net.

Loomis dictated play in the first half with much of the possession and attacking opportunities. Senior captain Bre Derella (Glastonbury, CT) helped control the midfield, switching the point of attack and creating numerous opportunities to get in behind the Bear’s defense.

With a 0-0 score at halftime, the Pelicans were confident entering the second half and continued to press. A quick counterattack by the Bears and miscommunication in the Pelican defense led to the lone goal of the game. With 30 minutes left in the game, the Pelicans pushed numbers forward and created several more opportunities to score, but the Bears’ defense held on to the lead.

For the Pelicans, it was a disappointing loss. “Give credit to Berkshire”, said Coach O’Brien. “They were a physical team and worked very hard. Unfortunately, we had one breakdown defensively which led to their goal. Again, we are creating a lot of opportunities in front of the net, but we have to have the urgency and composure to finish”.

Up next, Loomis returns home for a 3:00 pm kickoff against Deerfield Academy on Saturday, October 15th.
