The boys' varsity basketball game looked to get back on the winning track after the holiday break when they traveled to Kent on Saturday. However, the host Lions had different thoughts on their minds as they handled the Pelicans 60-31.
Despite the score, there were some bright spots. Eight minutes into the game, Loomis trailed just 8-6. Stellar defense by the LC starting five of Rich Conway, Will Lewis, Pat Dickert, Zach Williams and Jeff Burke helped keep Loomis in the game. However, an inability to put the ball in the basket on the offensive end put too much strain on an already depleted defensive unit. To end the half, Kent went on a 27-5 run and blew the game wide open. The Pelicans did not quit in the second half, but the huge deficit proved to be insurmountable.
Loomis will look to rebound against a strong Brunswick team on Wednesday.
