Loomis girls hockey played its second home game in less than 24 hours on Saturday, shutting out the Gators of Greenwich Academy with a decisive 4-0 victory — this on the heels of the team's 7-1 win over Brewster Academy the night before.

Due to inclement weather conditions the Loomis Chaffee Athletics Department has rescheduled today's varsity girls basketball game against Taft to Monday, February 16 at 5 p.m. in Olcott. The girls ice hockey game against Pomfret scheduled for today as a make-up game will be rescheduled to a later date. Please keep an eye on the website for more information. The girls JV squash match against Renbrook has been cancelled.

The girls ice hockey team defeated the Bearcats of Hotchkiss for a second time this season, improving on its 2-0 December result with a 4-0 shut out on Saturday.
The Women's World Hockey Championship is being held in Buffalo, NY and Loomis Chaffee senior Brittany Bugalski is one of two goalies representing Team USA on the 2015 U.S. Women's National Under-18 Team.

Several Loomis teams host or head to holiday tournaments this week. Here is your guide to what is happening on and off the Island.

The girls varsity hockey team opened the winter season with two strong games at home against Northfield Mount Hermon and Nobles. The team won 1-0 over the Hoggers on Wednesday and tied the Bulldogs on Saturday.

For several of the Loomis girls varsity hockey players, it has been a busy summer chock full of hockey. Senior Brittany Bugalski, sophomore Linda Essery, and incoming junior Paige Capistran all attended the U18 USA Hockey National Development Camp while sophomore Sharon Frankel and Head Coach Liz Leyden took part in the U14/15 USA Hockey National Development Camp in St. Cloud, Minnesota for a week in July.

The Loomis girls hockey team knew they had to play hard last week to land a spot in the post-season tournament. They needed to post wins against both Northfield Mount Hermon and Deerfield, playing both games in a span of less than 24 hours.

The girls hockey team took on a strong Pomfret squad Saturday at home and edged out the visiting Griffins in an exciting 2-1 overtime finish.

The boys and girls hockey teams handed losses to Hotchkiss on Saturday as the boys topped the Bearcats 3-1 and the girls returned from Lakeville with a 2-1 victory.
