Varsity Squash - Girls

Signup for an alert reminder.

The 2014 girls squash team was well-balanced in many aspects: grade level, experience, game aptitude, and sportsmanship. The varsity squash program includes an array of talented players in all grade levels.

The varsity team is followed by a wealth of talent under development on the junior varsity team headed up by Coach Kathryn Mullin '06. Both teams look to build on a solid base of experience to improve their games physically and mentally. At Loomis Chaffee, the girls’ squash program focuses on the following aspects:

-Mastering fundamental squash technique and strategy while working towards a high level of fitness and conditioning.

-Instilling a strong work ethic and guiding student-athletes to exhibit confidence, respect and good sportsmanship on and off the court.

-Creating an inclusive and supportive team environment that promotes healthy competition, open communication and fun.

The Loomis girls squash team enjoyed a solid 6-1 victory over Kingswood Oxford on Friday.

Recent snow storms left the girls varsity squash team eager for court time and opponents. Faced with a number of match cancellations, the team was not able to get back on court until Wednesday's match-up against Pomfret. The girls' excitement paid dividends as the Pelicans topped Pomfret 6-1.

The girls varsity squash team traveled to Simsbury on Saturday for the team's second head-to-head match against Westminster this season and recouped an early-season loss with a 4-3 win.

Working hard to earn each point, the girls varsity squash team defeated Kingswood Oxford 5-2 on Friday in the Pelicans' final home match of the season.

The girls squash team traveled to Westover for a double-header on Saturday afternoon. The snowy drive to take on both Sacred Heart and Westover did not deter the visiting team as Loomis Chaffee played great squash and came back to the Island with a 7-0 shutout of Sacred Heart and a close 3-4 loss to Westover.
