    Alumni Athlete News

The Final Four in men’s lacrosse consists of four of the best teams in college lacrosse contending for the national championship. Three of the four teams in this year’s championship have Loomis graduates on their rosters, all from the Class of 2011.

Sarah Wilson '05 went from Pelican maroon to Harvard's Crimson and now will don red, white, and blue for the United States.

Dartmouth sophomore Sarah Byrne '11 this weekend became the second player in Big Green women's lacrosse history to have consecutive games with at least four goals in the NCAA Women's Lacrosse Tournament. The only other Dartmouth player to accomplish this feat was another LC alumna, Katieanne Christian '01.

The Loomis Chaffee Alpine Team is a diverse group of dedicated student-athletes. Some of our racers have competed outside of the Berkshire Ski League in U.S.S.A (United States Skiing Association) events, while others have never had the opportunity to race prior to joining the LC team. The winter season begins with dry-land training. The focus of the team's dry-land training includes: goal setting, finding one's anaerobic and aerobic threshold for endurance and speed, weight training and hill work outs for building power, agility exercises for balance and quick movement, and core work outs for overall strength. Once our students return from winter break, the team begins its season on snow at Ski Sundown. Student athletes train Monday through Friday for about an hour on the slopes. Races are held on Wednesdays. Each racer gets two runs. The scoring includes overall individual standings, as well as overall team standings. During the Brigham Ski League races, Loomis competes against opponents which include Avon Old Farms, Berkshire, Suffield Academy, Salisbury, Taft, and Kingswood-Oxford. The team competes in the Class B division of the New England Prep School Alpine Ski League. There is always the opportunity for higher competition from schools that have ski academies; however the Loomis Chaffee team continues to train hard and stay focused in order to do their very best!  For more information on the Loomis Chaffee Alpine Ski Team contact Jake Leyden at: Jake_Leyden@Loomis.org
