After finishing the 2012 season with a record of 13-5 and a third place finish at the New England Championship, the Pelicans find themselves this year returning only a handful of varsity athletes. This year the team will be looking for new talent and working hard to be among the very best in New England. Coach Pond expects strong contributions from the returning veterans Krystal Sung and Ali John, but a number of younger players will need to step up and fill in the gaps created by the graduation of a large and talented 2012 senior class. Teamwork and communication among members of the squad will be the key to the success of this team. Over the past fourteen seasons, the Pelicans have compiled a record of 224-72-1, and 18 team members have achieved All-America status.
Coach Pond stresses fundamentals and a transition game based on a solid defense. The 2013 season will be Coach Pond's second year coaching girls water polo with assistant Coach Isso Shimamoto. Coach Pond has been the head coaching the boys program for 17 seasons. The Loomis Chaffee girls varsity team is open to all athletes, regardless of prior water polo experience. The coaching staff will work with you to teach you this exciting game. Come and join us!!
