Our new presidents, Eboni Grant, Shakara Washington and Susannah Willamson are eager to get the group started with community building and education ideas.   Past Events

  • Dinner and a movie: a screening of Mira Nair’s critically acclaimed movie Mississippi Masala accompanied by a feast of samosas, naan, chicken curry and basmati rice.
  • A hugely successful fundraising dance in January entitled Fire and Ice: In addition to students from Loomis Chaffee, students from six other schools attended the dance. More than $800 was raised for the Food Share of Windsor, CT.
  • MLK week celebration: the PRISM presidents assisted with the program selection and staging of a multi-student performance program on MLK day. They also did a wonderful job introducing our keynote speaker, Dr. Clayborne Carson.
  • Cultural Outburst: Chichi Oparaocha, a PRISM member, initiated PRISM’s support for this new program designed to celebrate the cultural and ethnic diversity of our community.  Held on April 17, PRISM played an integral role in setting up, cleaning up, and participating through the creation of tables that highlighted the cultural heritage of a variety of club members.
  • Hot Topic Discussions: PRISM has promoted and attended these discussions. PRISM’s belief in and support of this program has contributed to its success.
  • Participation at CAIS’s Student Diversity Leadership Conference, “Pieces of the Puzzle”: This year it was hosted by St. Luke’s Academy in New Canaan, CT, featuring keynote speaker John Ameichi.  http://www.johnamaechi.com/john/
  •  Annual Senior PRISM dinner: Every year PRISM acknowledges and awards our graduating seniors for their contributions toward the work of diversity at Loomis Chaffee during their years in the organization. PRISM seniors are awarded a Kente stole, which they wear during the Commencement ceremony.
