The success of the Loomis Chaffee Summer Program leans heavily on its sense of community. Vital to the definition and perpetuation of this warm community are the faculty members. They embody the ethos and tenor of the community with their unstinting commitment to the positive experience of each student and with their love of learning. Faculty members teach classes, coach afternoon recreational athletics, advise students, supervise the dormitories, serve as Deans, coordinate and chaperone off-campus events, staff the library, and help in a number of other ways to run the whole program.
Though a significant number of the LC SP faculty do come from The Loomis Chaffee School, a number of highly talented and experienced faculty and staff members hail from other schools. Each adult has, among numerous distinguishing traits, abundant energy and passion for working with adolescents.
Anyone interested in seeking a teaching faculty position with the Summer Program should contact Director Jeff Scanlon via email (Jeff_Scanlon@loomis.org). Send a cover letter that explains your educational philosophy and why you want to work at the LC SP along with your résumé and a list of references.
The LC SP draws abundant energy and enthusiasm from its faculty interns, who help with classroom, dormitory, athletic, and social endeavors. The faculty interns, typically recent college graduates or upperclassmen, will receive a salary for their duties, not to mention an invaluable work and life experience. Imagine: five weeks of hard work and a lifetime of memories.
