A diverse exhibition of ceramic sculpture was presented in the Susan and Eugene Mercy Jr. Gallery in the Richmond Art Center beginning from April 26, through May 29.
The Ceramic Sculpture Invitational show was curated by Jennifer McCandless Art Department chair and director of the Mercy Gallery, and Abigail Wade '16.
The show featured a variety of styles by 15 artists. The exhibit includes work by Vermont artist John Brickels, who will be a visiting artist at Loomis Chaffee, working with and among students in the visual arts program.
Abby, an Advanced Placement art student, was interested in learning how to manage an art gallery, so Jennifer invited her to help curate the show from start to finish, including researching and inviting ceramic artists from the Northeast to participate in the exhibition.
Concurrently with the ceramics show, AP art students exhibited their portfolios in the adjacent Barnes and Wilde Gallery.
