The girls varsity soccer team earned its second Founders League win of the season on Wednesday, October 2, defeating Kingswood Oxford 7-0 on Barton Field.
The Pelicans enjoyed the majority of possession in the first half but failed to capitalize on any scoring opportunities. Instead, their goals came off three set-pieces, the first a free kick and the next two corners, something that the girls had worked hard on in practice over the previous few days, said head coach Linda Hathorn.
In the second half, the team played with more attacking intensity and created numerous scoring opportunities in the run of play, scoring four more goals from four different players. Senior Jess Hinton and junior Charlotte Hill found the scoresheet for the third straight game while junior Julia Witt and freshman Kirsten Lees scored the first goals of their Pelican careers.
The Pelicans will travel to Westminster for their next matchup, looking for another Founders League win, against the Martlets at 3 p.m. on Saturday, October 5.
