Loomis Chaffee Alumnae Join Faculty

Five Loomis Chaffee alumnae have joined the faculty ranks. Chloe Alexander '12, Catherine Dunlavey '13, Liana Fernez '12, and Maggie Kennedy '05 returned to the Island in August. Eva Haldane ‘00, joined the faculty in March of last school year.  

Chloe is an admissions associate and the director of multicultural recruitment. She most recently served as assistant director of admissions, assistant women’s basketball coach, dorm parent, and English teacher at the Springfield Commonwealth Academy. Chloe earned her bachelor’s degree from the College of William and Mary, where she was a key member of the women’s basketball team. In addition to her role in the Office of Admission, Chloe is a dorm resident in Flagg Hall and the all-gender housing coordinator. She will be an assistant coach for girls track and field. 

 

Catherine returned to Loomis as a part-time instructor in the Science Department in January of 2020 Catherine received her undergraduate degree in biology and her graduate degree in neuroscience from the University of St. Andrews in St. Andrews, Scotland. In addition to teaching, Catherine is interested in clinical research, and she conducted several research projects while completing her graduate work. She lives off campus in East Granby, Conn. 

 

Liana teaches freshman and sophomore English and serves as the assistant director of student activities. After graduating from Loomis, Liana earned a bachelor’s degree at New York University’s Gallatin School of Individualized Study and a master’s degree in interdisciplinary studies at the NYU Center for Experimental Humanities. In addition to her teaching and student activities work, is the IDEA Theater assistant director. She lives on campus and is a dorm affiliate in Howe Hall.  

 

 

Eva returned to the Island as a counselor last year, and she teaches a Seminar in the Common Good. Eva earned a bachelor’s degree from Smith College and a master’s degree and doctorate from the Columbia University School of Social Work. At Columbia, she was an adjunct associate professor in the School of Social Work while also working as a crisis clinician at Wellmore Behavioral Health in Waterbury, Conn. Eva serves as a dorm affiliate in Batchelder Hall and lives in Windsor. 

 

 

Maggie is an associate director of admission. She previously worked at Loomis from 2011 to 2015, overseeing the wellness program and serving as head coach of the varsity softball team, an assistant coach for varsity girls ice hockey, and head coach of girls junior varsity soccer. Maggie earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Dartmouth College, where she also was a four-year varsity letter winner and key member of the women’s ice hockey team. Maggie returns to the Island by way of Proctor Academy, where she taught health and wellness to ninth- and 10th-graders and served as a coach, dorm head, and advisor. Maggie lives in Windsor with her wife, Lindsay, and their son.
