Sophomore Recognized In New York Times Essay Contest

Sophomore Serena Kim was recognized with an Honorable Mention in the Second Annual New York Times Personal Narrative Essay Contest on January 20.

Teenagers from all over the world were invited in October 2020 to share their meaningful life moments in short essay form. Of the 9,000 entries, Serena’s essay was one of just 42 earning awards. There were seven winners, 13 runners-up, and 22 honorable mentions. Kate Saxton, director of Writing Initiatives at Loomis Chaffee, congratulated Serena on her accomplishment.
