Equestrian Claims First Place at Home Opener

On Saturday, October 7, the equestrian team co-hosted its first show of the season at ABF Equine. Although the Pelicans were nervous as they were competing at their home barn and hosting nine other teams, their hard work and preparation took over, and they finished in first place.

The day started off strong for the Pelicans when juniors Dagny Mactaggart and Liam Scott finished first and third, respectively, over fences and followed that effort with first- and second-place finishes in the flat.

Inspired by the performance of their peers, freshman Haven Low and sophomore Mia Griffiths swept the Intermediate division. Haven won both her over fences and flat class, while Mia finished third and first.

The positive momentum continued into the Novice division with freshman Allie McEntee battling her nerves to win her first two blue ribbons as a Pelican, and senior Jette Elbualy had one of her best horse shows to date to finish third and first.

The team members look to continue the success they found at their home barn when they host another show at ABF on Saturday, November 4.
