The boys varsity lacrosse team defeated Hotchkiss 12-7 on Wednesday, April 10, at Loomis Chaffee for the team's first Founders League win of the season.
The Pelicans had an inauspicious start to the game as they found themselves down 1-2 against the Bearcats halfway through the first quarter, but the team revived thanks to the efforts of juniors Alex Stepney and Peter Steinle and sophomore Trae Ika, who strung together goals and helped the team recapture the lead. Loomis headed into halftime up 6-3 over the Bearcats.
Hotchkiss fought its way back in the third quarter and scored two straight goals to make the score 6-5. From there the Pelicans rattled off four straight goals to take a 10-6 lead and secure the win.
Sophomore goalie Zach Koch made seven saves on the day while senior faceoff man Jarrod Davis went 15-22 at the x to help the Pelicans improve their Founders League record to 1-1.
Up next, the Pelicans travel to Berkshire for a 5 p.m. matchup on Saturday, April 13.
