The girls varsity basketball team hosted Deerfield Academy on Saturday, February 10, and put on an offensive show, beating the Big Green 75-39.
The Pelicans started the game out in an effective full-court press, forcing turnovers from the Deerfield squad. By the end of the first half, the Pelicans had doubled up on the Doors, scoring 42 points to Deerfield's 21, and Loomis extended that lead in the second half.
The Pelicans scored 17 fast-break points and 31 points off of turnovers. Junior Reilly Campbell led the way for Loomis on offense, putting up 20 points, seven rebounds, three steals, and three blocks.
Freshman Anahi-Lee Cauley also stood out in her first start for the Pelicans. With impressive athleticism and endless effort, Cauley was all over the court on both sides of the ball and was a constant thorn in the side of the Deerfield defense. She scored 11 points, recorded five rebounds, and had four steals.
Every player got into the game for the Pelicans, and 10 out of the 11 players tallied points.
The team next travels to Williston Northampton on Monday, February 12, to make up a game that was postponed due to weather earlier in the season. The game starts at 5:30 p.m.
