The girls basketball team secured its seventh straight Founders League title with a 73-49 win over Miss Porter's School on Friday night, February 22.
Determined to keep their championship streak alive, the Pelicans started the game on fire. Finding success in the paint and from the three-point line, Loomis ended the half 20 points ahead of Porter's. In the second half, Porter's tried to come back, but Loomis ramped up its defensive pressure and continued to have offensive success, pulling further ahead to end the game 73-49.
Next, Loomis, the third ranked seed, will face sixth ranked Taft in the first round of the New England Tournament on Wednesday, February 27, at home. The game time has yet to be determined. This will be the Pelicans' seventh straight appearance in the New England Prep School Athletic Association Class A Tournament, and their ninth appearance in the last 10 years.
