Girls Lacrosse Defends Founders League Title on Senior Day

With a 15-5 win over Kent on Wednesday, May 23, the girls lacrosse team defended its Founders League title and recorded an undefeated season in the league while also celebrating the team's seniors, who played their final game at Loomis Chaffee.

The game started off with decorations and signs dedicated to the team's six seniors, made by the team's underclassmen. All six seniors started the game, as senior goalie Erin Levine, senior defensemen Cali Stevens and Suzy Ryckman, senior midfielder Lia LaPrise and senior attackers Mairin Moylan and Sophie Weaver got the Pelicans going with their hard work and smart lacrosse. Their dedication to the program showed in their final game, and their play set the tone for next season as well.

Every senior besides Levine, who was in goal for the whole game, scored a goal. It was an especially precious moment when Stevens, who played defense all spring, scored her first goal of the season. Junior defender Charlotte Fanning scored her first goal of the season as well.

What made the day even more special was the complete team effort at both ends of the field. Whether it was Levine making huge stops in net, LaPrise winning draw after draw, Ryckman playing strong 1v1 defense, Weaver moving the ball and clearing space for her teammates to drive to the net, Stevens playing tough defense and then mixing in on the attack to create many chances, or Moylan making perfect passes to her teammates on attack, these six seniors contributed tremendously both on and off the field.

The coaches would like to thank their seniors for all their hard work and wish them good luck as they begin the next chapter of their lives.
