New World Trio will present a Guest Musician chamber music recital at Loomis Chaffee on Tuesday, January 15, in the Hubbard Performance Hall at 9:55 a.m. The public is invited to attend the concert, and admission is free of charge.
New World Trio comprises founder and violinist Anhared Stowe, cellist Peter Zay, and pianist Pi-Hsun Shih — all well-established Hartford-area musicians. The trio has presented an extensive repertoire of classical and contemporary chamber music for many years.
New World's members have been resident musicians at the Bushnell Center for the Performing Arts; the Hartt School at the University of Hartford; the Warner Theatre in Torrington, Conn.; and St John's Episcopal Church in West Hartford. In addition, the ensemble has performed at several venues in the Hartford area, including the Wadsworth Atheneum, Centennial Theater, Trinity College, and Wesleyan University, and on the "Best of Connecticut Concert Hall Live" program on local public radio station WNPR.
The three musicians will work with students in Loomis' chamber music program during class time before the performance. Their visit to campus is made possible with support from the Joseph R. Stookins Lecture Fund.
