Playoff Preview

On Saturday, November 17, three Loomis Chaffee varsity teams will play in New England tournament semifinal action. The boys soccer team, girls soccer team, and girls volleyball team will all be competing for a chance to play in Class A New England Prep School Athletic Conference championships on Sunday, November 18.

The girls volleyball team travels to undefeated St. Paul's for a battle between Pelican mascots at 2 p.m. To advance to the semifinals, the Pelicans defeated Noble and Greenough School 3-0 on the home court on Wednesday, holding the Nobles team to single-digit points in two of the three sets. For those that won't be able to travel to St. Paul's Academy, the game will be livestreamed as well. If Loomis wins, the team will host the championship game against the winner of the semifinal between sixth-seeded Choate and seventh-seeded Exeter.

The boys soccer team hopes to avenge one of its two regular-season losses when the Pelicans travel to Worcester Academy for a 12 p.m. matchup. Earlier in the season, the Pelicans lost to the Rams 1-0. In the tournament quarterfinals on Wednesday at home, Loomis edged past Northfield Mount Hermon 1-0 on a goal from senior Michael Suski late in the second half. The semifinal game can be viewed live for those that cannot make it to the fame. If the Pelicans win, they will play the championship game at Worcester Academy at 11:30 a.m. on Sunday against the winner of the other semifinal, between first-seeded Berkshire and fourth-seeded Taft.

The girls soccer team will travel on Saturday to Buckingham Browne & Nichols for a rematch of last year's NEPSAC Class A championship game, which the Pelicans won 3-2. The game will begin at 11 a.m. The team advanced to the semifinals by defeating Hotchkiss 4-3 on Barton Field on Wednesday. If the girls win their semifinal, they will play in the championship game against the winner of the other semifinal, between first-seeded Nobles and fourth-seeded Worcester Academy. The championship game will take place at the Brooks School at 1 p.m.
