The Loomis Chaffee Student Council hosted its annual Benefit Concert on Saturday, February 16, raising more than $800 to benefit My Sister's Place, an organization whose mission is to end homelessness by providing housing and support services to women and their families in Greater Hartford.
Juniors Maral Asik and Aaron Yang and sophomore Aidan Gillies took the lead in organizing the event. "We chose My Sister's Place [as this year's beneficiary] because of its local impact and how much we supported the mission," Aidan remarked. "We really believed that it did the most for the most people out of all the charities we looked at."
Student performers included seniors Becca Mucheru, Ezgi Uygan, and Tara Pugliese; juniors Ray Khan, Kavya Kolli, and Makayla McPherson; sophomores Evan Petkis, Emma Kane, and Leah Paige; and freshman Mariapaula Gonzalez. A student music group called Pablo Jesus Lazer Beams performed some "spicy soulful jams," and there was a faculty lip-sync performance by Harrison Shure and Liz Bucceri '07.
