On Wednesday, November 15, three Loomis teams will compete in their respective New England championship tournaments.
The girls varsity volleyball team earned the fifth seed in the New England Prep School Athletic Council Class A volleyball championships, and will take on the fourth-seeded Taft Rhinos at Taft at 3:30 p.m. In two previous matches against Taft this season, the Pelicans defeated Taft 3-2 and lost 0-3. The team finished the regular season with a record of 13-5.
If the girls win they will face the winner of the Choate versus Convent of the Sacred Heart matchup on Saturday, and the game will be played the home court of the higher seeded team.
The girls varsity soccer team earned the second seed in the NEPSAC Class A soccer championships and will host the Greenwich Academy Gators at 2 p.m. for the quarterfinal game. The girls took on Greenwich Academy earlier in the season and defeated the Gators 3-0. The team finished the season with a record of 13-3-1. Loomis also was chosen as the site for the championship game on Sunday in the Meadows.
If the girls win they will face the winner of the Worcester Academy versus Hotchkiss School match, with the game being held at Loomis on Saturday.
The Pelicans are the defending Class A champions. In the tournament finals last year, Loomis defeated Worcester Academy 3-1 to win the title.
The boys varsity soccer team also earned the second seed in the NEPSAC Class A soccer championships and will host Milton Academy at 2 p.m. on Wednesday. The Pelicans already have earned the Founders League championship based on their regular-season record. The boys team finished their season with a 16-3 record.
