Why did you choose Loomis?
I chose Loomis because I felt that it had the perfect mix of academic rigor and rich student life. There were so many classes and extracurriculars to choose from that would give me the opportunity to explore my current interests and find new hobbies and passions. Also, the supportive community and different resources on campus made me feel like I would have the help that I'd need to succeed and thrive in high school.
French & English
Activities on campus:
Fall Play, Varsity Track & Field, Yearbook, Peer Counseling, Newspaper Photographer, Community Service
A fun fact about me:
I have traveled to fifteen different countries over five continents! I'd love to go somewhere in Asia or Antarctica sometime in the future :)
What is your favorite question you get asked on tour?
“What's it like being a day student at a boarding school?”
Being a day student at Loomis is like having the best of both worlds! I get all the same opportunities, resources, and experiences as a boarder; the only difference is that I sleep at home. It's nice having the freedom to decide if I want to stay late on campus or head home for dinner with my family. I have loved being able to host boarding students at my house and show them around my town, but also I come to campus basically every weekend for rehearsals and love to stay for the weekend activities.
What do you want to make sure prospective students and families know about Loomis?
I want to make sure the prospective families understand how Loomis encourages a very collaborative work environment. Aside from the group work and group objects in class, you'll constantly find students working together on assignments or helping each other study in the library during study hall. Loomis is unique because seeking extra help outside of class is not only accessible but also extremely encouraged. There are help centers led by students and teachers for virtually any class you'd take at Loomis, and meeting with teachers outside of class is super easy to schedule and something many students take advantage of.
