Yoga and Meditation with Nancy Covello Murray ’83

Start the day off with a yoga and meditation class led by Nancy Covello Murray ’83. This class will include yoga postures suitable for all levels — both beginner and advanced yogis are welcome! We will end the class with at 10 minute guided meditation, so feel free to slip in at 8:50 a.m. if you would like to join that part of the class.

The Federal Reserve and You: Understanding Monetary Policy

The last six months have been a whirlwind for financial markets. There is persistent inflation, Silicon Valley Bank and Credit Suisse declared bankruptcy, and the Federal Reserve has raised interest rates. All of these factors lead to uncertainty in the year ahead. Join current Yale School of Management Professor and former member of the Federal Reserve Board of Governors, Bill English ’78 and Mat DeNunzio, former Social Science faculty member in a conversation about how we got here, current monetary policy, and insights for the remainder of the year.

“The Times They Are A-Changin” 

A panel discussion moderated by Karen Parsons, Loomis Chaffee archivist, will transport us back to the late 60s and early 70s when dress codes, daily chapel, curriculum, and co-education were hot topics at Loomis, Chaffee, and Loomis-Chaffee. Join Chaffee alumnae, Loomis alumni, and Loomis-Chaffee alumni as they share impressions from this dynamic time in the history of adolescence, the school, the nation, and the world.

Update from the Center for Diversity, Equity & Inclusion and Meet & Greet

Join members of the Center for DEI and student leaders for a panel discussion and Q&A of the Center’s role at Loomis Chaffee, successes from the past year, and what lies ahead. You will learn more about the revision of the visitation policy, LC’s inaugural National Coming Out Day celebration, MLK Week, the Student Diversity Leadership Conference, Healthy Love Week, and more! There will be a brief share out by Center for DEI faculty, followed by a student panel and Q&A. We will close with a meet and greet, where you can ask questions and learn more informally.

Screening of the award-winning documentary film “Chesley Bonestell: A Brush with the Future” and Q&A with producer, director, writer Douglass M. Stewart Jr. ’68

What do the Chrysler Building, the Golden Gate Bridge, the film “Citizen Kane” and America’s space program all have in common? They were each touched by the creative vision of an almost-forgotten artist and architect named Chesley Bonestell (1888–1986). Bonestell has been referred to as “the man who got us to the Moon, not with technology but with a paintbrush.” Special Q&A Guest: Space artist and author David A.
