Theater & Dance
Not every future actor or dancer arrives at Loomis knowing already that he or she wants to be on stage, but we have a place for everyone. Whether you are new to the performing arts or an advanced performer looking to hone your skills alongside talented and experienced professionals, our extensive curricular and extracurricular offerings will enable you to grow and discover new talents.
From performance to production, from stage management to technical theater, and from ballet to hip hop, there are many options. With an immense amount of support from our community, a packed house is the norm at the numerous productions that take place in the historic NEO Theater, including the fall drama production, the Fall Dance Showcase, the winter musical, the Framed-In Theater Festival (original 10-minute plays written, directed, performed, and produced entirely by students), and the Spring Dance Revue.
The Theater & Dance Department's production of Macbeth, Shakespeare's classic tale of treachery, ambition, madness, and murder, offered plenty of surprises in its successful four-performance run November 6–9 in the Norris Ely Orchard Theater.
Loomis Chaffee dancers, including students in classes and clubs, performed a sampler of the pieces they have been working on during the Fall Dance Showcase November 14–16 in the Norris Ely Orchard Theater.
