3-0 Start to Season for Girls Tennis
The Loomis Chaffee girls varsity tennis team has begun its spring campaign with three straight wins, the result of 21 matches in the win column and only four in the loss column.
Several players have stood out so far this season. Freshman Aim Wanglee, who plays at the No. 1 singles spot for the Pelicans, has won dominantly in each of her matches to launch her Loomis career.
Junior Angel Neklyudova and senior captain Isabella Delach, at No. 2 and No. 3, respectively, also have been steady players while providing great leadership to the team.
Freshman Elizabeth Mullany, junior captain Izzy Hefflin, and freshman Olivia Baron have been instrumental to the team’s success as well. All three came up with big wins in the Pelicans’ most recent team victory on the road against Berkshire.
“Our young squad has really shown up with energy and force to get us out to a hot start,” noted head coach Ben Snuffer. He said he looks forward “to seeing what the rest of the season has in store for this group.”
The team’s next match is on the road on Saturday, April 20, when the Pelicans will face Greenwich Academy at noon.
