Loomis Chaffee junior Alex Fisher has been named the 2024-25 Gatorade Connecticut Boys Cross Country Player of the Year, an award recognizing athletic excellence, academic achievement, and community impact. He is the second student-athlete from Loomis Chaffee to receive this honor in cross country. 

Fisher had a standout fall season, placing second at the New England Prep School Track Association (NEPSTA) Division I Cross Country Championship, helping his team secure a runner-up finish. The only competitor ahead of him was Tam Gavenas of Phillips Andover, who later won the Foot Locker Cross Country National Championship. Fisher finished in the top two in every race leading up to the Nike Cross Nationals (NXN) Final, where he placed 20th and earned Third Team All-American recognition. 

A three-time All-NEPSTA honoree in cross country, Fisher also is a strong academic student and contributes to the Loomis Chaffee community by serving on the school’s Disciplinary Committee.  

The Gatorade Player of the Year program has honored elite high school athletes for 40 years, and Fisher joins a distinguished list of past winners. As part of the award, he will have the opportunity to donate a grant to a social impact organization of his choice. 

Alex also is a standout member of the Loomis track team. His success reflects his dedication to both his sport and his school.
