Boys Cross Country Brings Founders League Title Back to Campus

The boys cross country team won the Founders League Championship on Saturday, November 5, the team's seventh league title in eight years.

The Pelicans placed four runners among the top six finishers in the race, as freshman Alex Fisher placed second, senior Sam Kurian placed third, senior Ethan Wood placed fourth, and junior Evan Gackstetter placed sixth. Their finishes also earned them All-Founders League recognition, which goes to the top 15 finishers in the meet.

Sophomore Erik Lamphere, who had one of the best races of his career, just missed out on the recognition, placing 17th, while freshman Miles Gackstetter and senior Sandro Mocciolo finished 28th-place and 29th-place respectively.

Not to be outdone, the JV runners also took home first place for Loomis Chaffee, with sophomore Lucas Hanley taking home his second straight JV championship, with a time that would have placed him 18th in the varsity race.

On top of the championship meet victory, the overall team also won the Timothy S. Scott Bowl, awarded to the boys cross country team with the best dual-meet record among Founders League schools.

Up next, the Pelicans head to New Hampshire for the Division I New England Prep School Track Association cross country championship at St. Paul's School on Saturday, November 12.
