The boys varsity golfers played their best match of the year on Wednesday, May 18, breaking the 200-stroke mark for the first time this season and defeating Pomfret 194-224 and Wilbraham & Monson Academy 194-243.
The team, excited to play at the beautiful Greathorse Country Club again, took advantage of the great conditions and perfect weather to play excellent golf. Sophomore Ryan Che led the way for the Pelicans with an outstanding one-under-par 35. His score earned him the medalist spot on the day. Individual scores from the contest were:
Senior Braidon Fitzpatrick – 38 (2 over par)
Sophomore Ryan Che – 35 (1 under par)
Freshman Ryan Wang – 38 (2 over par)
Senior Timmy Sullivan – 42 (6 over par)
Freshman Lucas Hanley – 41 (5 over par)
Junior Charlie Chen – 43 (7 over par)
Up next, the Pelicans travel to Watertown Country Club for the Founders League Championship on Saturday, May 21, before capping off the season with the Kingswood Oxford Invitational Tournament at Oakridge Country Club in Feeding Hills, Mass., on Wednesday, May 25.
