Boys Lacrosse Defeats Choate to Clinch First West I Title Since 2006

The boys varsity lacrosse team traveled to Wallingford on Wednesday, May 14, to face off against Choate in a high-stakes matchup with both Founders League and West I implications. In a dominant performance, Loomis Chaffee emerged victorious, defeating the Wild Boars 15–9 and clinching the 2025 West I title — the team’s first outright championship since 2006.

The game opened with a flurry of goals from both sides, but senior Hayden Cody’s goal off a face-off win to tie the game at three ignited a nine-goal Loomis run. Junior Milki Conway-Reppert connected with a cutting junior Jayden Rodriguez to take the lead, then found senior Cole Goodwillie for another quick strike to make it 5–3. Sophomore Noah Rodgers capped off the quarter with a goal off a Rodriguez feed from behind the cage, giving Loomis a 6–3 advantage heading into the second.

Senior David Disque opened second-quarter scoring with a highlight-reel goal and followed it up with an assist to senior Rowyn Nurry on the next possession. Conway-Reppert and Rodriguez connected again, and a fortunate bounce during a two-man advantage rounded out the first-half scoring. Meanwhile, senior goalie Liam O’Keefe and the starting defensive unit of senior Gray Tamasco, junior Saki Nicholas, and senior Nate Macpherson shut down Choate’s offense, holding the Boars scoreless in the second quarter.

The third quarter began with yet another Conway-Reppert-to-Rodriguez connection, extending the lead to 11–3. Choate managed a goal in transition — its first since the opening quarter — but the teams continued to trade goals, with Rodriguez tallying two more and senior Anthony Rodriguez scoring twice, including one on a man-up opportunity. Choate added three goals in the final minutes, but the outcome wasn’t in doubt as Loomis closed out a 15–9 victory.

With this win, Loomis advances to the Founders League semifinals, where the Pelicans will face Avon Old Farms on Sunday, May 18, at 1 p.m. on the Upper Turf.
