Boys Track & Field Wins Again

The Loomis Chaffee boys track and field team remains undefeated heading into the final stretch of the season.

The team’s final home meet is set for Saturday, May 3, when they will face Phillips Andover, Avon Old Farms, and Northfield Mt. Hermon, followed by the Founders League championships on May 10 and the New England championships on May 17.

The Pelicans’ most recent victory came against Choate in a dominant 123–22 win on Wednesday, April 30. The meet offered a chance for athletes to gather more official marks, though Choate’s smaller squad couldn’t match the depth and talent of the Loomis team.

Among the event winners were senior Ciarán Bruce in the 100-meter hurdles, senior George Martin in the 400 meters (with an impressive time of 51.88), senior Nicholas Kassab in the 300-meter hurdles, junior Joseph Hurd in the 800 meters, and senior Jack Muhlhauser in the 1500 meters. Sophomore Amani Odenigbo won the 3000 meters, freshman Ben Liu took first in discus, and senior Jackson Torres won the shot put. Sophomore Jeremiah Robinson captured both the long jump and triple jump, sophomore Jackson Strand won the javelin, and junior Zane Habig cleared 10 feet 6 inches to win the pole vault. Both the 4x100 and 4x400 relay teams also took first place.

It was a strong all-around performance, with athletes stepping up across events. The team is well-positioned for the championship meets ahead, with Robinson and Kassab both surpassing 20 feet in the long jump, Robinson and Ford exceeding 40 feet in the triple jump, and Torres and Sow each throwing over 40 feet in the shot put.
