Boys Track & Field Wins Founders League Championship

The boys varsity track and field team hosted the Founders League Championship meet on Saturday, May 13, on Wilde Track and captured the team’s sixth consecutive title in a day of impressive performances.

Six members of the team won individual events, highlighted by the performance of senior Quincy Briggs, who won the 200-meter and 400-meter races. Quincy’s 400 time of 49.03 also broke a 25-year-old record, which had previously been held by Mickey Chambers ‘97 at 49.36.

Other individual Founders League champions included junior Sebastian Cohen, who won the 300-meter intermediate hurdles and finished second in the 110-meter high hurdles; senior Sam Kurian, who won the 800-meter race and finished third in the 1500-meter race; junior Orion Browne, who won the triple jump (just an inch away from the school record) and finished fourth in the high jump; junior Julian Sutton, who won the shot put; and senior Ethan Wood, who won the 3000-meter race.

The complete list of athletes and their finishes as well as the overall team scores can be found online.

Up next for the team is the New England Prep School Track Association Division I Championship at Phillips Andover Academy on Saturday, May 20. The meet will start at 10:30 a.m.
