The varsity softball team defeated Northfield Mount Hermon 16-0 on Wednesday, April 20, on the back of a no-hit performance from freshman pitcher Jessica Chieco.
The Pelicans jumped out to a 9-0 lead in the first inning, with freshman Violet Peverley leading the way with a two-run double during her first appearance at the plate. Chieco and junior Jaelyn Walsh also batted in runs when they recorded singles in their at-bats. A couple of walks later and a hit from Jaelyn Walsh rounded out the scoring for the Pelicans.
On the mound, Chieco was almost perfect, walking only two batters on the day. A combination of speed, accuracy, and great pitch selection enabled her to dominate at the circle.
With the win, the Pelicans move to 3-2 on the season. Up next, the Pelicans host Hopkins School on Audrey Field on Wednesday, April 27, at 3:30 p.m.
