Fraser’s Four-Goal Night Lifts Loomis Boys Hockey Past Westminster in Overtime

The Loomis Chaffee boys hockey team earned an important win at home on Wednesday, February 18, rallying past Westminster in an overtime thriller behind a strong performance from junior forward Shane Fraser.

Westminster opened the scoring in the first period, but Loomis answered late on the power play when Fraser netted his first goal of the night, assisted by sophomore Nick Ferrie and junior Nikolai Bazalitszki. Just over a minute into the second period, Fraser struck again, finishing a play set up by senior Owen Schwarz and junior Logan Ferrara to give the Pelicans a 2–1 lead.

Westminster responded with two goals to regain the advantage, but Fraser completed his hat trick late in the period, tying the game at 3–3 with just under four minutes remaining. Schwarz picked up another assist on the play.

The Pelicans carried their momentum into the third period, generating sustained pressure, although Westminster was first to score in the period and took a 4–3 lead. Loomis answered once more as Ferrie redirected a shot from junior Max Hu, with senior Will Watson also earning an assist, to knot the game at 4–4 and sending the game into overtime.

Loomis controlled much of the overtime play and sealed the victory with 2:30 remaining when Fraser buried a rebound for his fourth goal of the night. Schwarz and senior Ryder Tremblay assisted on the game-winner.

The Pelicans will look to build on the result as they head to Northfield Mount Hermon on Saturday, February 21, before returning home to host Millbrook on Sunday, February 22, at 1 p.m. for Senior Day.
