For the Loomis Chaffee girls varsity golf team, the spring season couldn’t be off to a better start. The team currently has a 6-0 record of with wins over Westminster (twice), Hotchkiss, Ethel Walker, Williston, and most recently Greenwich Academy. 

In addition to the team’s success, a Loomis golfer has been a medalist (first-place individual) in every one of the team’s contests so far. Sophomore Olivia Manganiello has taken this title five times, and senior Hannah Lund has been medalist once. Every one of those six medalist scores has been a 40 or below, and Manganiello has shot a 35 twice. 

Eight different Pelican golfers have competed in the team’s five starting spots already this season, an uncommon occurrence that showcases the team’s versatility and depth. In the two most recent matches, every competing LC golfer scored below 50, a difficult feat to achieve. 

“We just have a really solid group that competes, as well as another group that shows up and wants to get better each day at practice,” stated head coach Maggie Kennedy. “Each girl brings something special to the make-up of the group,” she said, and she’s looking forward to seeing how all the girls continue to improve. 

The team will look to keep their perfect record alive when they take on Miss Porter’s and Williston Northampton on Wednesday, April 24, at Tunxis Country Club.
