Girls Lacrosse Stays Hot with Win Over Kent

The girls varsity lacrosse team improved to 2-0 on the season with a dominant 12-2 victory in the rain over Kent on Wednesday, April 6.

Kent jumped out to an early lead when the Lions won the opening draw and marched down the field for a goal, but the Pelicans responded immediately with a goal of their own and never looked back, building a 5-1 lead within the first 10 minutes. Loomis’ stifling defense, along with disciplined offense and timely finishes, allowed the team to control the rest of the half, taking the 5-1 lead into the locker room.

A Loomis error in communication in the back end allowed Kent to open the second half with a goal. Much like in the first half, though, the Pelicans responded almost immediately, going on 7-0 run after the goal.

The Pelicans were led by juniors Maggie Bankowski and Turner Brode on offense, who each scored three goals, while senior M.K. Briglio caused two turnovers and picked up a ground ball on defense.

Junior goalie Sophie Powless finished the game with seven saves. Below is a list of players who recorded points in the game.

Junior Maggie Bankowski: 3 goals

Junior Turner Brode: 3 goals, 2 assists

Sophomore Liv Perriello: 2 goals

Sophomore Lily Magliacano: 2 goals, 1 assist

Senior Livingstone: 1 goals

Freshman Presley Parades: 1 goals

Freshman Cata Tarantino: 1 assist

Up next, the girls host Miss Porter’s School on the Upper Turf on Saturday, April 9, at 1:30 p.m.
