Girls Squash Wins Big Against Wildcats

The girls varsity squash team improved to two wins and no losses on the season with a 7-0 victory over Williston Northampton on Wednesday, December 6.

The match opened with decisive victories from seniors Princess Davenport, Fiona Murphy, and Rebecca Fowler, at the No. 2, 4, and 7 spots, respectively, to give Loomis an early 3-0 lead in the overall match. Their experience was on display for everyone in attendance as they calmly and decisively put to action their gameplans.

In the final matchup of the first round, sophomore Molly Bernardi put on a clinic at No. 6, conceding no more than three points in each of the three games. Her win sealed the victory for Loomis and allowed her teammates in the second round to play with less pressure.

The second round of matches followed suit to the first round, as senior Angelina Amastal, playing in the No. 1 spot, and freshman Aditi Bhor, playing at No. 5, won comfortably.

The final match of the game, featuring junior Charlotte Tobin at No. 3, was a tight battle. Tobin was forced to try new strategies after dropping the first set, but she recovered nicely to win her next three games and complete the shutout for the Pelicans.

Up next, the Pelicans take the quick road trip to Kingswood Oxford for a matchup against the Wyverns on Saturday, December 10, at 3 p.m.
