The girls varsity tennis team captured its first win of the season with an 8-1 victory on the road against Miss Porter’s on Monday, April 4.

The competition, as it usually does, began with doubles matches, and the Pelicans went up 3-0 after convincing victories that included sharp serving, great teamwork, and some great net play.

The singles matches followed suit, and those in attendance got to see great tennis from both teams, as five out of the six matches went to four or more sets. The Pelicans stayed composed, and veteran leadership from seniors Elene Didbaridze and Lana Sheng helped the team win five out of the six matches.

The team, 1-1 on the young season, next plays Hotchkiss on the road on Wednesday, April 13, at 3:15 p.m.
